FREE MISSIONS
While the story-based campaign
missions are quite entertaining, Gundam Senki doesn't really come together as
something spectacular until you start tackling the free missions. Each faction
has access to two missions for each area in the game, and plays unlocks new
missions by clearing old ones. So, basically, it's the same set-up as story mode
only without the story. The difference? You can play online, and access a new
difficulty mode—HELL.
You can play through the Free
Missions all by your lonesome (but, if so, only on normal difficulty) or
co-operatively online, with up to three friends. Once you've cleared both the
EFSF and Zeon single player campaigns, you'll be able to play as the
"Mercenary" faction in free-mission mode. Mercenaries have access to
all of the store-items and missions from both factions, but at the same time
need to pay twice as much for any part, weapon or mobile suit. Want to load a
Zeke suit up with Feddie weapons? Or vis versa? Merc is the way to go.

enemies will not move until you get close to them, so keep your map zoomed
out. If you see a stationary group, avoid it. Also keep in mind that enemies
will be spawning from ALL over the map, so be
prepared to rush back toward the northern defense area quickly. As
long as you're able to move about the map quickly and take out the enemies
with similar alacrity, you should be okay.

so you should be able to handle it pretty easily. The 105mm machine guns your
Zakus start out with are pretty weak, so
you will want to buy the upgraded 105mm machine guns quickly, and then
arm it—this mission until you're able
to buy the much, much better 120mm Machine Gun. This will make the next few
missions much, much less painful for you. (some pain is to be expected, of

many bonus points you can earn, which means this can be a valuable mission
for point-farming early on.Unfortunately, in single-player, it's very hard to
get more than two trucks before the others escape. You're best bet is to tackle
this game online, with at least one other player, with the both of you going
off in different directions as soon as you can. Ignore all of the other
enemies and focus on the trucks, but beware of the GMs in in the Southern
corner of the map, they have some very powerful long range weaponry that will
take you out if you're not careful. It's a good idea to use the canyons for

Strategy:
This
mission can be a daunting at first. You'll be facing a huge quantity of GMs
and they'll all be gunning for you much more aggressively than in the last
mission. Particularly annoying are the GMs armed with bazookas, they are very
accurate, very fast- moving, and do a lot of damage. To make matters worse,
several of these bazooka-wielding GMs will perch up high on the canyon walls,
where it's hard to counterattack. The wall near where you start is easy
enough to get to simply boost straight up. At the opposite end of the map
where most of the fighting will be going down, however, you cannot boost all
the way up to the top of the walls by yourself, fret not, there is a way up.
In the center of the canyon there is a stepped hill, or plateau, with several
levels that you can jump on to. Boost all the way to the top of this central
mesa, and you'll see bridges leading to both the East and West sides of the
canyon, granting you easy access to those Cowardly GMs sniping you from afar.

This
mission can be a bit iffy due to the enemies' propensity for long-range
attacks. Just try not to stand around in the same place, or move in a straight
line for too long, and you should be able to avoid the greater portion of it.
Beyond that, simply pick a piloting style you like and go to town.

If your

Obviously. Keep in mind, however, that while you can't see underwater
enemies, you can still attack them—so once you've cleared out the hostiles on
the shore, you can stand at the coastline—or fly over it—and pick off the
submerged reinforcements from above.

Strategy:
Your
targets are the enemy turrets. You can ignore the enemy mobile suits if you
like, but I wouldn't recommend ignoring all of them on the harder
difficulties. Keep a close eye on the map—you can safely ignore most enemy MS
that are outside of melee range (provided your able to avoid or absorb their
fire) but be careful of any enemies that get too close. Take them out before
they can attack you—if you get hit by a melee attack, of course you'll take
damage, but you'll also be slowed down—which will give the enemies further
away time to mob you. If you're not careful, this battle can very easily
devolve into a brawl.

|
|
Strategy:
The
Aden Spaceport area has several large cliffs that, for the most part, are too
high for the enemy AI to traverse easily. This means they make great barriers
to partition the enemy forces into segregate groups, and also offer a handy
platform for long-range sniping.

|
|
Strategy:
The
easiest/cheesiest tactic to take out the HLVs is to simply ignore most of the
defenses and defenders and jump up onto the cliff in the rear of the launch
area. There, you can maneuver behind the HLVs—doing so will block you from a
great deal of fire, and the enemy mobile suits' AI will have difficulty
getting up to you for close-range attacks.

Strategy:
Welcome
to space! Fun here, ain't it? And pretty, too. The space missions tend to
have even more enemies fielded, so if you prefer a ranged combat style, be
sure to stock up on spare ammo packs. And, if you have learned to do so by
now, always—always--make sure you have a decently effective melee weapon
equipped. You do not want to find yourself at the end of a mission with only
one hostile mobile suit to take care of, with zero weapons at your disposal.

Strategy:
There
are a lot of enemies here, and they're all tough. Now that you're in space,
you should be sufficiently experienced with high-level play: I strongly
advice tweaking your mobile suit for speed and mobility at the expense of
armor, because no matter how much armor you have, you're still going to take
a lot of damage. Rather than trying to weather the damage, you'll be better
served focusing on avoiding damage altogether.

Strategy:
Speed
is the name of the game here. Well, I suppose you should just go with
whichever piloting style you find to be the most efficient, but I find that
ranged weapons typically take down enemies slighly quicker than melee. Something
like a beam machine gun or higher-tier beam rifles (especially the DLC beam
rifles) would be the best option.

|
Strategy:
There
are a lot of enemies to fight off here, but fortunately they don't really
move around the map very quickly, so if you've customized your mobile suit to
the point where you can take an enemy MS down in one or two or three seconds,
you'll probably be running across the map in circles taking out each new
group of enemies as they appear. Be careful, however: there are a great many
enemies you need to kill, and even with multiple spare magazines it is quite
easy to run out of ammo. Make certain to have a decent melee weapon equipped,
as you'll very likely need it to clear out the last few hostiles.

|
|
Strategy:
This
mission is easily one of the most annoying in the game because of those
damned turrets. Because there's very little cover and so many enemies, I find
it best to use a mobile suit with high AP and strong ranged attacks. As
always, you should try and take out the enemies will dodging as much fire as
you can; using ranged attacks should make it easier to avoid getting pelted
by enemy fire.

Strategy:
As is
the case with the other DLC missions, you're up against a large number of
superior enemies. I find that the most effective style of piloting is to
focus on mobility and to expand the mini-map to full-view. Use the terrain to
your advantage—ideally, you should be able to take out most enemies without
being hit by many (or any) attacks. Beyond that, there's very little advice I
can give you—you'll simply need to focus on honing your skills. Also remember
that you can get help from other people by playing online, but the more
players in your room the harder the individual enemies may be to kill—so if
you're not farming the higher-tier rewards, the easiest way to beat the
mission is simply to play it in offline mode with the AI teammates to back
you up.
